130 miles in 5 days. This is a glimpse into my MS Run the US journey.

I’ve tried a few times to write up a “recap” of running through Utah. I’m still trying. It’s hard to encapsulate an absolutely transformative experience. I’ll post as soon as the words come.

For now, here’s some video.

THIS, I know:

1. The human spirit is resilient.

2. People are selfless.

3. Love is a force.

4. I’m a hippie.

5. But I would never live in rural Utah.

6. I love NYC more than any place I’ve ever visited.

7. Yet I want to continue to wander the universe.

8. I’m a different person now than I was a week ago.

9. The founder of MS Run the US, Ashley Kumlien, has the patience of a saint and a heart of gold.

10. MS Run the US is comprised of people who want to change the world. And we will.

Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try. I learned that from my mom.

5 marathons in 5 days for MS Run the US. The most I’ve ever asked of my body. I believe in taking every chance because some things only happen once. Tomorrow the journey begins, but I think this chapter started a long time ago.

When I was 4, I wanted to be She-Ra, the princess warrior.
When I was 5, I wanted to be a mermaid.
When I was 7, I wanted to be a ballerina AND a mermaid.
When I was 8, I dressed up as the first female Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor for Halloween in a robe my grandmother made for me. And fell in love with the law.
When I was 25, I wanted to be a lawyer. And I was.
When I was 27, I wanted to be a RUNNER. And I made myself one.

In the moments when I want to stop running over the next 6 days, I’ll remember why I started-MY MOM.

The woman who let me believe in mermaids and unicorns and real life SUPER HEROES like her. She has MS. I run for her. I run for everyone who can’t.

The moral of my story is that you can create yourself. Mom, I learned that from you.

Well wishes from friends, from family, from YOU, let me know I’m not alone. They reinforce every step. From the bottom of my heart, thank you! I appreciate you and your participation in this journey.

The world needs dreamers who do. MS Run the US is a team running from LA to NY. We run for a cure. The further we go, the stronger we get.

Remember, not all those who wander are lost.
